← Back to changelog

Hello,

Josh and Bri here. We’ve got an important update to share with you:

We have sold our company, Barkpass, and all of its assets to Steve Zeidman, based out of Phoenix, AZ.

First, what this means for you

No action is necessary on your part. Barkpass will continue to operate as it is today and support your business or municipality for the foreseeable future. You should direct any support inquiries to the chat widget on the website or [email protected] rather than to Josh or Bri.

How we got here

We started Barkpass in 2019. No kids yet, just Bri and Josh and our lovely dogs (and so much free time!). We saw an opportunity to improve the dog park registration process for our local city, Waukee, IA, and they trusted us to build them a better solution. Through that relationship, we improved the product year over year and eventually brought on more clients.

Pet licensing features came naturally to Barkpass, and that helped us diversify our client base from dog park businesses to cities and municipalities. We expanded our reach outside of our home state of Iowa, taking on larger counties and unique dog park brewpubs.

Today, Barkpass supports customers ranging from small community dog parks with dozens of members all the way to municipalities with millions of residents across the United States.

Looking to the future

This year as we reflected on the future of Barkpass, we knew we needed a better growth strategy. That’s where Steve Zeidman came into the equation, and we started talking about a possible partnership.

Steve is a 25-year veteran in the animal care technology industry and an established entrepreneur who has created some of the most popular pet licensing software in the market. He is determined to reach more communities with a simple-to-use licensing and dog park management platform and demonstrate licensing as a sustainable funding mechanism for the critical work of municipal and community animal services providers.

We’ve decided that it’s in our best interest to sell our business to Steve, especially since we just welcomed our third child to the family on December 6th. This is really a bittersweet decision for us, and one we don’t take lightly, but we feel confident in Steve’s abilities to continue to push Barkpass forward.

What happens now

Steve is now your primary point of contact. The support widget on the Barkpass website will still be available for quick questions, and it generates a support ticket when you submit a question.

We have prepared a robust transition plan which includes training Steve and his team on the Barkpass product to make sure you see uninterrupted customer service in 2025.

We are confident that Steve Zeidman is the perfect successor to carry on the mission of Barkpass. His extensive experience and passion for animal care technology make him the ideal leader to continue our work and take the company to the next level.

Thank you!

We want to say thank you for being a Barkpass customer and hope you continue to stay a customer for years to come. We’re proud of the top-notch product we’ve built, and we can assure you it will only continue to get better.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to [email protected].

All our best,
Bri and Josh
